Allen, Texas

Allen, Texas was the site of the first documented train robbery in Texas. In February 1878, the infamous Sam Bass and his gang were hiding out in the nearby Elm Trinity brush lands. On February 22, they stole approximately $1,500 from the Texas Express Car. The Allen, Texas of today has grown unbelievably from it's humble roots. It offers a friendly community with exceptional schools, excellent city services and a nationally-recognized parks and recreation program, with a wakeboard and extreme skate park, as well as Celebration Park with kidMania one of the largest handicap-accessible play and spray grounds in the U.S. With four premier shopping destinations, an award-winning golf course, nearly 200 restaurants and our own 7,000-seat arena, our city boasts something for everyone.

Allen has several centralized shopping spots that don’t require you to spend all your time in a hot car, burning gas, and searching for parking. Bargain-hunters come from all over the Dallas and Fort Worth area for great deals on designer items at the stores at Allen Premium Outlets, such as Gap, Adidas, Kate Spade, and J. Crew. The Village at Allen offers a similarly strong crop of high-quality merchandise, and your shopping experience is enhanced by artwork, a dog park, interactive fountains, a hedge maze, a garden, and green spaces. Finally there’s Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, a retail area that combines boutique stores with a lovely setting, complete with a flowing creek and duck pond. Watters Creek is also where the free Concerts by the Creek performances take place in the spring and fall.

If being active is your way of relaxing, Allen has several exciting locales for you. Helmets and knee pads are strongly recommended for the high-octane fun at The Edge Visitor Center, which has hockey rinks, a BMX track, and a 38,000-square-foot skate park. The folks at Hydrous Wake Park insist you wear a helmet as you bust moves on a cable-pulled wakeboard at this unique attraction. One of Allen’s favorite, free-family-fun spots is Celebration Park on Angel Parkway. Its 104 acres include sports fields and courts, hike and bike trails, a covered pavilion, and the refreshing “sprayground” known as kidMania.

Event Center

Many of the Allen’s most exciting events go down right here in this 6,275-seat arena. The center is home to three sports teams: the minor-league hockey team Allen Americans, indoor footballers Texas Revolution, and indoor soccer club Dallas Sidekicks. Along with the home games, the center hosts basketball tournaments, monster truck racing events, and live concerts.
