Allen, Texas was the site of the first documented train robbery in Texas. In February 1878, the infamous Sam Bass and his gang were hiding out in the nearby Elm Trinity brush lands. On February 22, they stole approximately $1,500 from the Texas Express Car. The Allen, Texas of today has grown unbelievably from it's humble roots.
